Website User Testing

Because I decided to create a website prototype along with an app one, I need to conduct user testing for this website. The form of this user testing is quite similar to the form of app user testing, the only difference is the target user that I want to interview. While an app testing requires feedback from students, I need an instructor to try the website prototype and give me feedback for further improvement.

Website prototype

Beside creating an app prototype for students, a website prototype for instructors is necessary for this project. Hence, I design a simple  prototype for Ushine website which allows instructors to keep track of courses, create and upload tutorial videos and host a live-streaming session.

Here is a trailer of the website prototype for Ushine project. There are 3 main features of this website. The first one is “Manage” page which shows the courses in progress that instructors are in charge of as well as the projects of these courses. Another feature is “Create” that allows instructors to upload the tutorials and workshop videos onto the platform. The last one is “Live” where instructors can host live events and also follow the streams to interact with students during the live-streaming session.

App User testing

After creating the prototype, the next task is to test with users to improve the product from feedback. My plan is to test on 5 people: one studying MA Design, one studying MA TESOL and three students from Vietnam. I will have one face-to-face testing session with my friend who is studying MA Design, one through Skype with my friend studying MA TESOL and maybe one with Vietnamese students which I will need to ask someone in Vietnam to conduct the session.

Here is the script for my user testing session:

The steps to prepare for user testing:

1. Equipment: Laptop, Camrecorder and Tripod.

2.Script with questions, the purposes of this test are: any difficulty in interacting with the app, understand purposes of the app, perform the learning procedure (watching videos, uploading projects, interacting in live-stream)

3. Recruit live audience including a designer, a teacher and students.
